There is no better feeling than when a long project is seen to completion. All the hard work put into it by the J. Thompson Builder’s team can finally be enjoyed by our client. The Custom Modern Home in West Des Moines (detailed in our blog here), was completed in June and our client moved in shortly after. We are very pleased with how this home turned out, which includes a custom party deck, contemporary kitchen, and a beautifully hand-crafted staircase.

One feature of this house we especially love is the interior doors. Some of these doors are large (four feet by nine feet) and are sliding bar doors that resemble barn doors. Some of the doors include intricate artwork on them as well.

Another feature of this house is the staircase, which is beautifully hand crafted with 3-inch walnut butcher blocks. This staircase is like no other staircase we have designed and built before, and it is definitely one of the highlights in the home.
When entering the home, people may notice the custom front door. This was built of 2 ¼-inch walnut wood right here in the JT Unique workshop! We love designing and fabricating these pieces, as they make each of our custom homes truly unique.

The television above the fireplace is quite impressive. It has a custom picture frame surrounding it, but the technology makes it appear to have picture matting around a beautiful piece of digital art. Based on your preferences, you can upload any digital piece of art to this television. It can be changed whenever you want, making the setting of your home adjustable. Of course, watching TV is just the push of a button away.

The exterior of the house is just as impressive as the interior! With a sleek back porch with access to the third floor and modern finishes, this house is meant for entertaining. We enjoyed spending our time designing and building this beautiful home and we hope our clients love it as much as we do!
