This blog finishes our series on explaining, in detail, our Cozy Cabin Outfitters packages. This week we highlight our third package, Northwoods Hideaway.
Where to Use it
Residential:In residential applications, use the package on the entire house, both inside and outside. Turn a conventionally constructed home into a rustic retreat. Or use the package just on portions of your home; a dedicated room, basement, man cave, or recreation room. It’s an ideal décor treatment for cabins, lake homes, country homes, second/getaway homes, particularly as a way to make it different from your primary residence.
Commercial:In commercial applications, it’s perfect for themed restaurants, resorts, lodges, resort cabins, hotels, motels, golf shops, country or field clubs, store fronts, or use it anywhere you want to turn a conventional space into a rustic log cabin look.
What It Looks Like
The look of our Northwoods Hideaway package is what we consider the traditional log cabin look. We use clear, knotty pine half logs, with a choice of either the straight milled or a hand-hewn look. We create a log wall, typically stacking them from floor to ceiling.
We also offer accent logs for the inside and outside corners in either the straight milled look or the hand-hewn style. We offer the knotty pine wainscotting in several styles. And what is also very common is to use floor to ceiling planking.
After the logs are stacked the seams can be chinked or left alone; it’s up to the client’s preference.
We gather the specifications and scope of the job by working directly with you. We’ll ask you for some rough dimensions, your ideas and digital photos. All of our preliminary work is completed via phone and email. We’ll provide a materials list and answer any questions you have via phone or email. Once we’ve defined the full scope of the project, we’ll make a trip to the job site, if necessary.
All material is ordered through JT Unique where we pre-fabricate, pre-cut, assemble and finish the application, directly in our shop. We package it together and hand deliver it. We recommend using our staff to install it, but we can also provide instructions if you wish to install it yourself.
We can only provide estimated prices. Each job is different. Because each application is custom built, each log is cut differently, and market prices vary. After our initial phone call, we’ll review the job and provide a quote. These packages are comparable in price to a real stone veneer. The wall treatments typically range about $13-$18/sq. ft. and the wainscoting packages range about $5-$8/sq. ft.
Prices include raw material, prefabrication, cutting, staining, finishing and installation. Prices do not include shipping, and the cost of accessories will vary significantly with each project.
